“I think Vanilla Bliss would work really well with the Toasted Coconut that I already use, it sounds like the scents would complement each other, especially with my Vanilla Bean perfume.” Beth H
Scent Layering: What Is It?
Scent layering is a beauty trend focused on combining multiple scented products to create a unique, signature scent, rather than relying on a single fragrance. In other words, creating something that is totally you.
So, How Do You Do It With Lume?
Scent layering with Lume involves strategically applying body wash, deodorant, body cream, and (optionally) perfume to enhance and prolong your signature scent.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Start with a Clean Base:
Begin with a shower using Acidified Body Wash or Cleansing Bar.
Ensure your skin is clean and dry before applying Deodorant.
2. Choose Your Deodorant:
Select a Deodorant with a scent that complements your body wash and perfume. Opt for an Unscented Deodorant if you want the focus to be on your other body products or perfume.
Apply Deodorant plus Sweat Control if you are interested in controlling underarm sweat. Apply any Lume Whole Body Deodororant to underarms, private parts & beyond.
3. Moisturize (Optional but Recommended):
Apply Acidified Body Cream to help lock in the fragrance. Oily skin tends to hold fragrance better than dry skin, so moisturizing can be beneficial. Choose a scent that matches or complements your Deodorant and Wash.
4. Apply Perfume If Desired:
Spray your perfume on pulse points (wrists, neck, behind ears). Consider applying perfume to your hair and clothes for a longer lasting scent.
Tips for Effective Layering
Start with the base notes: If you're layering different fragrances, apply the heavier, base notes (musky, woody, or fruity) first.
Avoid overwhelming scents: Don't use too many strong scents at once. Experiment to find a balance that works for you.
Consider the occasion: Light and fresh scents might be better for daytime, while deeper, richer scents can be saved for evenings.
Don't be afraid to experiment: Try different combinations and see what works best for your personal preference. For example, pairing a Fresh Alpine (crisp, green fragrance) with Peony Rose (soft floral) can create a unique and balanced fragrance.
Pair Minted Cucumber with Clean Tangerine for a fresh, bright, and invigorating fragrance.
For a pampered, spa like feeling all day, pair Lavender Sage with Minted Cucumber.
Most of all, have fun creating!
By following these tips, you can effectively layer your deodorant and other fragrance products to create a signature scent that lasts all day while using outrageously effective odor control.
